REQUIREMENTS: Must be used with an equal or greater amount of soffit vent.

NOTE: Roll Vent Cedar is not recommended for ridge beam applications. Roll Vent Cedar must be installed on roofs with a minimum of 3/12 pitch (14°) and a maximum pitch of 12/12 (45°).

Step 1: Snap chalk lines and cut slot 2" wide (1" on each side). Allow for a closed area of sheathing with no slot approximately 12" at both ends of ridge.

Step 2: Fold 30 lb. felt back over last course of shingles or shakes exposing 2" slot. (When cutting last course of shakes or shingles, use caution to avoid cutting through felt.)

Step 3: Loosen about 2” of black nylon matrix from black fabric and cut out with snips. Create end cap by folding fabric in at each side; then up and over black nylon matrix. Center Roll Vent over slot and fasten with NAIL LINES UP. Nail on nailing line.

Step 4: To splice, remove 2” of nylon matrix and fit together by overlapping remaining fabric with next section and fasten to roof deck.

Step 5
: Cut exposed excess felt away on shingles. In areas of severe weather or rough hand split shakes, lay a bead of caulk between felt and Roll Vent 1/4" in from edge for entire length of Roll Vent.

Step 6
: Install 30 lb. felt 7" wide on top of entire length of Roll Vent.

Step 7
: Install Ridge caps with even spacing on both sides of Roll Vent using 2 1/2" shake nails. Nail approximately 1 3/4" in from cap shingle edge on nailing rib indicated by nailing line. Nails should penetrate into the sheathing 3/4" or completely through sheathing. Ridge Cap must overhang Roll Vent by 1" at each gable end. Ridge cap shingles should overhang Roll Vent by a 1/4" minimum on each side.
